The University College Student Association
"A posse ad esse"
Established in 1999, the University College Student Association (better known as the UCSA) is the study association of the University College Utrecht. The purpose of the UCSA is to contribute to the non-academic life of UCU students. Members of the association not only benefit from the events and information but are crucial to the continual motion towards the association’s goals.
The UCSA operates through the running of Committees who carry out specific activities. For example, the Bar Committee is in charge of managing our very own UCSA Bar, the Politics Committee organises lectures and excursions on political topics, the Humanitarian Committee raises funds for charity and the Music Committee organises Open Mic nights in the UCSA Bar and jam sessions. There are 41 of such committees (also known as a "Co") that organise activities ranging from dance classes and comedy shows to sports matches and career-related projects. All these activities are run by students for students on a purely non-profit basis.
Activity is an integral part of life on campus, and every student has a chance to be involved from the moment they arrive! If a member feels that their extra-curricular interests aren’t well represented by an existing group, they have the possibility of organising and proposing a brand new committee! That is why our slogan is "a posse ad esse", meaning "from possibility to reality".
