The UCSA Board 

The UCSA Board is a democratically elected group of 6 UCU students who are in charge of running the University College Student Association. We organise social life on UCU's campus by supervising 40+ committees and teams, organising large scaled events, handling the finances and facilitating its 750 members with a platform for social extracurricular development.

The UCSA Board 2026-2027 will be constituted as follows:

What do I do? As the chair of the UCSA, my main responsibility is assuring that the association progresses well throughout the year, by setting the agenda and making sure that meetings flow steadily, according to our long and short-term goals. Additionally, this requires the chair to always keep a bird's eye view over the association and its long-term development in the back of their head, and to truly take care of their board members' well-being. Also, the chair has a representative function to other parties and chairs the General Assemblies. Overall, it is a position requiring a cool head and keeping a lot in mind, but very rewarding!

What do I like? 
I really enjoy practicing sports, like CrossFit and Karate, and I've been part of the volleyball team at UCU too! Moreover, I love eating good food, cooking together with friends and trying out (and concocting) new recipes! I do also like learning new languages and visiting different places around the world

Favourite memory of UCU? 
There are simply too many to count, (and impossible to rank) but most of my favourite moments were the ones spent together with my weekly dinner group friends, be it a pizza party, a birthday bash or a hungover picnic brunch ;). I also have to mention the wild nights at the bar, but also the late night talks with friends over a tea <3​

Tatjana van Steenbergen Bergeron (she/her)

What do I do? As the Secretary, I take care of all the non-financial administration of the UCSA. I do a lot of planning, keep track of to-dos, take minutes during meetings, and make sure our digital organisation runs smoothly. I’d say most of what I do comes down to organisation and communication. What I love most about my position is that it gives me a good overview of everything that’s going on, while also letting me see all the different pieces that everyone contributes.

What do I like?I love dancing and trying out new styles (my heart does belongs to contemporary). I'm a fan of baking, mostly grandma style baking and I'm always excited to try new foods!​

Favourite memory of UCU? Cooking in the unit with my friends while singing along to disney songs after going out in the city!

Isabelle Maxey (she/her)

Major: Human Geography and Economics

​What do I do? As Treasurer of the UCSA, I take care of the financial side of the association. This means managing the overall budget, accounting, taxes and insurance, as well as overseeing committee budgets and reimbursements. I also work closely with committees to help them manage their finances and make sure they have the resources they need to bring their ideas and events to life.

What do I like? In my free time, I love doing sports! I play ice hockey for the Buccaneers, a mixed rookie team in Utrecht, football with the amazing UCU women’s team, and I love going on runs. When I’m on holiday, I also love skiing, surfing, wakeboarding and kitesurfing. I’m really into art as well, so whenever I get a free moment, I enjoy playing guitar or piano, painting and photography.

Favourite memory of UCU? Streaking the Quad during Introweek! (definitely recommend). But in all seriousness, King’s Day in Utrecht with my friends is probably one of my favourite memories :)

Sanne Verkoeijen (she/her)

What do I do? As CAO, my main focus is committees. Splitting the 40+ committees of campus with my two other CAOs, I make sure campus events run smoothly, keep track of how boards are doing and make sure they have the support and resources  they need to thrive! 

What do I like? Playing rugby(!!), spending time outdoors, going to the movies, reading when I remember I like to, and going the the UCSA bar ;))

Favourite UCU memory? Many many good memories but some notable ones are the musical closing night, organizing my first pub quiz (shout out PubQuizCo) and karaoke in Vilnius on the hitchhiking trip!

Katrijn Telgen (she/her)

What do I do? As CAO, my main focus is committees. Splitting the 40+ committees of campus with my two other CAOs, I make sure campus events run smoothly, keep track of how boards are doing and make sure they have the support and resources  they need to thrive!

What do I like? I'm really happy when reading a book with a cup of tea, or making sudoku puzzles. But I also love going to concerts, acting, dancing, and cooking with friends!  

Favourite UCU memory? Dancing in the rain, in the middle of a thunderstorm with a group of friends after a party has to be one of my favorite moments here at UCU. Hitchhiking to Vilnius was also a crazy but awesome experience!​

Awab Gahwat (he/him)

What do I do? As CAO, my main focus is committees. Splitting the 40+ committees of campus with my two other CAOs, I make sure campus events run smoothly, keep track of how boards are doing and make sure they have the support and resources  they need to thrive!

What do I like? In my free time, I like getting coffee with my friends, going on spontaneous trips and cooking delicious meals. I also love going to fitness classes at Olympus and going to the cinema.

​​Favourite UCU memory? I have so many memories at UCU. I love all the unit dinners, late night study sessions, and committee events. But my favorite memory is when my friend fully fell into the Utrecht Canals as she was getting out of the kayak.
