Maarten Diederix is a man with many connections and skills that are invaluable for maintaining a campus. He fixes, prevents, resolves, and communicates countless issues on our campus. For any problem related to damaged or unusable facilities in the communal areas, such as the academic buildings, Dining Hall, or outdoor facilities, please reach out to Maarten.
Maarten is also the only person who can help you get back into your unit if you lose your access key. Please be considerate when contacting him, as he has a life outside of campus. Only contact him if you have no other way to regain access to your unit. (For example, if a unitmate was sitting on the couch right by the door and you still called Maarten Diederix, you might never hear the end of it!) You can reach Maarten in three ways:

(Non-)Emergency Security
Campus security is provided by UU security.
Please note that although calling 112 is the standard in the Netherlands, calling Emergency Security is actually better while on campus. This is because the fences and gates around campus may prevent emergency medical services from reaching you in time. Contacting Emergency Security will resolve this issue. Therefore, always call Emergency Security in instances requiring emergency services (e.g., ambulance and fire department).
Non-emergency security can be contacted if you need help and no one else is available, such as when you are locked out of your unit or if you see someone sketchy walking around campus.
