Campus Affairs Representatives 

The Campus Affairs Representatives (C.A.R.) board is a supportive body at UCU which aims to inform and help students with all matters campus related, whilst simultaneously maintaining communication between the student body and the college management. Our board consists of three official members: Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer elected by the UCU student body each year. C.A.R. operates by dividing our tasks into different portfolios, in which we carry out projects to improve campus.

In '25-'26, C.A.R. will be working on the following seven portfolios:

For most students, campus serves as the core of their time at UCU, as a residential, academic, and social hub. Sara Falcony Palacio (she/her)

My position: Chair

What do I do? Hi! I’m Sara, chair of the 2025 - 2026 CAR board. As chair I do all the public speaking, coordinating meetings and I make sure CAR does what we have to do. Furthermore, my role entails overseeing what has happened with CAR, is happening and should happen: I keep track of the long term vision of CAR as we are trying to become a more established student board. Finally, I also keep up with the other members’ personal and CAR goals to ensure progress and alignment with our overall objectives. My two portfolios this year are Housing and Security & Facilities. Housing entails improving on the student-housing staff relationship on campus, housing on campus in general, but also helping students find housing off campus! Security & Facilities is all about how to stay safe on campus, who to contact, and providing guides to students (like the Anti-Theft Guide).

What do I like? Going back home to Amsterdam and discovering new pop up stores and cafes is my all time favorite. Additionally, whether I am at home in Amsterdam or at UCU, I love to do something creative. From sculpting something with clay, to randomly beginning to crochet, and what I have always loved doing: painting. In the evenings I love cooking myself or my friends a good meal, like shrimp pasta or massaman curry and have drinks with my friends at the Primus bar after or go out in the city :) At UCU I also love being part of TripCo as PR manager and having fun at board bondings!

Favourite UCU memory? As TripCo member I organized the ski trip last year with the previous chair. It was my first trip at UCU and I was super excited to organize it as well as actually skiing as I hadn’t in over 6 yers at that time. I had a lovely time and will be organizing this year’s too!

Paula Maria Kammerlander (she/her)

My position: PR Manager

What do I do? As the PR Manager, I am responsible for overseeing all of CAR’s communications, including social media, announcements, and visual content. Since this is a newly created role, I focus on building a strong and consistent presence that effectively connects CAR with the student body. In addition to managing communications, I lead two key portfolios: Establishing CAR and Catering. Through Establishing CAR, I work to expand CAR’s visibility and impact by fostering relationships with new organizations, coordinating promotional events, and engaging in meaningful public relations efforts. This portfolio is all about growing CAR’s influence and ensuring students are aware of the resources and opportunities we provide. With the Catering portfolio, I collaborate closely with Eurest to enhance the campus dining experience. This involves meeting with their representatives to share student feedback on food options, pricing, and events. While CAR is not part of Eurest, we serve as advocates for students by ensuring their voices are heard and their needs are represented. By combining strong communication strategies with active engagement in these portfolios, my goal is to strengthen CAR’s role on campus and create positive, lasting connections with the student body.

What do I like? I love anything creative and hands-on, from painting, sculpting, making jewellery (that I used to sell), making clothes, to sketching and exploring new aesthetics. I also really enjoy spending time outdoors, especially when it is connected to sports and or spending time with friends. Whether skiing (with friends/as an instructor), playing field hockey, hiking, or travelling. Music is a big part of my life, I am a big house music enthusiast, and I enjoy going out and being spontaneous. I would describe myself as energetic, humorous, a little all over the place, and coffee addicted.

Favourite UCU memory? In the last year I have made so many good memories with the amazing people on campus. Many of them are in the Primus bar right outside campus or during crazy nights out in Amsterdam returning home early in the morning

Sophie Marie Ridgeway (she/her)

My position: Secretary

What do I do? I’m the secretary of CAR, which means I’m mainly in charge of administrative matters, such as e-mails, scheduling, and taking minutes during meetings. I work on the sustainability portfolios and my own set year goals.

What do I like? In my free time I love spending time with friends over a good cup of coffee, going for walks or exploring new spots in the city. Day trips to Amsterdam are on of my faves!! Apart from my studies, I like travelling whether solo or with my friends - cant wait for the next backpacking trip. Other than that I love going to the gym or for a run in the nature in and around Utrecht. 

Favourite UCU memory? One of my favourite memories at UCU is probably the summer term, where I had the time to plenty of stuff combined with good weather. Whether it be going to the river with my friend group, going out, or little daytrips to other cities in the Netherlands!!

Esmée Rol (she/her)

What do I do? As the treasurer of C.A.R., I am mainly in charge of the board’s budget, keeping track of it and I am currently working on creating a bank account for the board. As C.A.R. is an initiative based Board, I try to combine creative solutions and strategic thinking regarding the financial aspects. I also work on the wellbeing portfolio. 

What do I like? I enjoy going on walks, listening to music, and reading, but above everything I love hanging out with my friends
